Treatment for Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder can begin by calling Mindful and being seen TODAY. Call 516-505-7200
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD) is a new DSM-5 diagnosis for children and teens ages 6-18 who exhibit frequent irritability and outbursts on a near daily basis. Children with DMDD is serious as it may impair their ability to function at home or at school, form interpersonal relationships, and can lead to low self-esteem or depression. It is also considered a pre-cursor to anxiety and depression if left untreated.
Although DMDD is a relatively new diagnosis, treatment can begin as early as today. This may include psychotherapy, medication management, and referrals for family therapy to help the child and family learn healthy ways of coping and interacting. Call Mindful to schedule as assessment today.
